Abstract Aim A This audit aims to assess the department's current compliance with guidance, understand reasons for non-adherence and implement a plan of action improve future subsequent patient outcomes. Background NICE guidance recommends extended VTE prophylaxis up 28 days post colonic resection cancer Methods single centre, retrospective, observational study was performed between January 2018 –January 2019. We included all Patients who underwent elective colorectal resections cancer. Results total 123 patients had 91 (73%) were laparoscopically, 8 (6.5%) laparoscopic converted open 24 (19.5%) done as operations from start. The summary follows; 62 RHC, 25 HAR 36 LAR. LMWH prescribed 91% (112/123) among studied period. 5.7% (7/123) already receiving alternative anticoagulation thus achieved 96.7% (119/123). did not receive 3.3%, 4/123), there no clinical reason documented or identified this omission. postoperative experienced in 4.8% (6/123), 3 them required hospital admission (50%).
